A new fire safety project will soon link all residential apartments in the emirate to the operation room of Ajman Civil Defence. The project is based on advanced artificial intelligence technologies and will be functioning around the clock.

The Ajman Civil Defence plans to launch new fire regulations called 'Hassantuk' (protect you), a project that ensures quick response to fire accidents to prevent death and injuries.

The project, introduced by Ministry of Interior, would oblige the building owners to link their properties with operation room to help firefighters reach the site without delay and prevent the loss of lives and properties.

According to the official figures, 40 fire accidents occurred in residential apartments during the last 10 months causing three deaths and a number of suffocation injuries.

Meanwhile, the civil defence has intensified inspection and awareness campaigns targeting the owners of the buildings to oblige them to follow the fire safety regulations including the installing of all fire types of equipment to prevent residents. The awareness also targeted homemakers and domestic helps to teach them how to use extinguishers and how to act during a fire emergency.

Many reasons have been cited for fire accidents in the emirate, which includes poor electrical connections, use of low-quality electrical devices and negligence.

"The civil defense during the awareness campaign would educate the residents that they must ensure the closure of all electrical immediately after finishing using them," Brig. Al Shamsi said.

He pointed out that "spreading awareness among families is very important to reduce the risk of fire accidents in residential apartments"
